Jazz Pharmaceuticals is a specialty biopharmaceutical company that identifies, develops and commercializes innovative products to address unmet medical needs in focused therapeutic areas. After the acquisition of several pharmaceutical companies in 2012, Jazz was confronted with a requirement to support multiple sales teams with each running on different sales force automation (SFA) tools without a unified master data source. Jazz made the decision to roll out a single SFA tool to unify all sales organizations and concurrently to implement an enterprise-level, multi-domain MDM solution to support enterprise-wide data needs. Senior IT and business sponsors for the MDM initiative had significant experience implementing MDM at prior companies and understood the challenges and pain points of traditional enterprise MDM solutions. Based on their collective experiences, the team decided to look for Cloud-based MDM options that could deliver higher business value and faster ROI. Additionally, Jazz’s veteran MDM team specified field-sourced data integration, golden profiles and multiple “best versions of the truth.” Additional business requirements included pre-integration to key industry third party data sources and other applications such as the SFA solution selected by Jazz.
